We need your help to update our Database!
We want to ensure that AppSauna becomes your best resource for finding new games to play. There are many factors that go into this resource. The game ratings are on, the ability to write strategy articles and reviews and see how many have been writer for each right on the Game List. The most important however is the Genre of the game.
Currently AppSauna categorized games under the following Genre’s
RPG For adventure games such as Buddy Rush
Virtual World – For games where you participate in an online world such as Sims Social
Gambling – For all games involving placing bets with an element of chance such as Poker and Slots
Sports – For games based on popular sports such as soccer
Arcade – For games involving fast real time hand eye coordination such as Packman
Board – For board games of pure skill such as chess
Puzzle – For games where a puzzle needs to be solved such as Sudoku
Trivia – For games involving questions and answers such as Draw My Thing
Gameshow – For games based on Popular TV game Shows such as Family Feud
RTS – For games involving moving units in real time such as command and conquer
Shooter – For games involving a reticle used to fire a weapon such as doom
Card – For non-gambling games such as Solitaire
Strategy – For games that use an RTS mechanic but are not
Other – For games this editor is clueless about
The goal is to have as few categories as possible to make sorting easy but enough so that players can get right to the games they are looking for. So a football manager game would still be under sports even though a case could be made to put it under strategy, and Triviador would be under Trivia even though it could easily be classified as a strategy game as well.
Some of the new proposed categories are
Word Games – for games such as words with friends
Casino – To replace gambling and more clearly define games found in a casino
Hidden object – For games where you need to uncover items such as Treasure Madness
City Building – To more clearly define games like Farmville which is currently listed under virtual world
I find that the more people I speak with the more I realize that there are many really fun Facebook games out there for everyone but ONLY when those games fall into specific categories we enjoy. Since my personal experience with games like Treasure Island was limited I thought it was an RPG game and was not aware of the Hidden Object Genre.
If you love playing a specific type of game, please post your suggestion for a Genre classification and give an example.
We realize that many of the games in our Database are currently miscategorized and once we finish updating all the screenshots and video we plan to take a couple days and go back and fix everything, but first we want to make sure we have all the correct categories to choose from.
Remember, this site is here as a resource for players. We plan to ad many exciting features in the future such as the Friend Finder next month to help you fight allies and neighbors, but we need your help.
