For the hardcore gamer, who usually logs into Facebook only to brag about their latest stupid motorbike stunt, or to wish his buds a quick recovery after their latest stunt, there is finally a Facebook game to look forward to playing. Uberstrike is a 3D first person shooter on Facebook. By using the Unity 3D engine, this game achieves unprecedented quality on this platform which is traditionally known for turn based farming games. With full screen mode and a free to play business model done right, Facebook may just become the choice destination to frag your buds.

Unity is an amazing game engine that allows the creation of games for browsers that are virtually indistinguishable from their downloadable counterparts. The only catch is that you need the Unity engine installed on your machine prior to running any Unity game. This is a quick download and well worth the minute it takes to install. If you do not already have it on your machine, you will have the option to install it when you first play UberStrike. While it may be scary to install new software, it is similar to installing the latest version if flash and will open a new world of browser gaming.
UberStrike is a rerelease of the popular game Paradise Paintball, which was a revolutionary game released in 2009 and quickly gained a large following. The new game offers many enhancements over the original with a much larger variety of weapons, cosmetic items and maps. By using 500 player servers, Uberstrike allows hundreds of thousands of players to compete lag free. Your character equipment and profile will follow you regardless of which server you choose to play on that day.
When you first create an account, you will be given a basic outfit and 4 weapons. Each of your weapons represents one of the 8 classes of weapons available. This allows for a huge variety in combat styles from long range sniper to up close and personal assassin. You can see all of the weapons in the shop and even try each one on the practice range before you decide which ones to take into battle. Once on the field you can quickly switch between weapons using your mouse scroll wheel. As you gain levels, even more weapons will become available from among these types:

Melee Weapon – The choice for up close and personal destruction, offering bonus XP when used to kill.
Handguns – A cheap option for a last resort single shot weapon, good for close quarters fighting.
Machine Guns – These high rates of fire weapons will mow down anything you can keep in the crosshairs.
Shotguns – Slow to fire and inaccurate at long range, these multi shot weapons are deadly at close range.
Sniper Rifles – Use the scope to zoom into your target for a devastating headshot.
Cannons – These beauties fire shells that explode on contact damaging everything in a wide area.
Splatter Guns – The energy version of the machine gun, with high rates of room clearing power.
Launchers – These weapons fire large projectiles that explode damaging a large area after short delay.

The maps are as varied as the weapons, with interesting mechanics. Such as Monkey Island (A personal favorite) with jump ramps that can send soldiers flying to the next island and, plenty of towers to snipe from and rocks and houses to hide in or Spaceport with teleporter to quickly move around the station. Each map can be created using one of the match types, such as Death match or Team elimination. Players can even choose to join an existing game or create a map for just their friends.
One of the most interesting aspects of UberStrike is the huge variety of outfits that can be purchased. Unlike many shooters with simple clothing options, Uberstrike has 7 separate clothing slots. This means you can customize your look to an unprecedented degree. Become a bazooka blasting samurai or a sword wielding Eskimo, the choice is your own.
The game is completely free to play. Weapons and outfits can be either rented for a certain number of days or purchased permanently with credits that can either be won in game or as we always recommend when you find a game you really enjoy, purchased from the store.
Before you know it you will be inviting your friends to play a shooter on Facebook. So get a head start and try Uberstrike now. You could be fragging someone in minutes.
