The main focus of Mall World is to run a clothing and accessory shop. Starting with one rack, a shelf, and a catalog with just a handful of hundreds of outfits unlocked, every decision on what type of shop to build is up to you. Proprietors will eventually be able to expand their establishment to 4 floors of awe-inspiring glamour, choosing everything from wallpaper, to lighting fixtures. Your visiting friends will be able to see your creation and earn a small reward for tidying up a bit.
While many customers will appreciate your decor, the real reason for their visit will be to browse your wares. As you gain levels you will unlock additional outfits. Which outfits you choose to stock will partially depend on their profit margin, however you won’t go wrong by following your heart, throwing out the racks and creating 4 floors of shelves that hold nothing but handbags, or fulfill your secret desire and fill every floor with nothing but shoes.
Earning money wouldn’t be any fun without a way to spend it. It is here that Mall World really distinguishes itself. Instead of buying more cows you get to visit over 100 unique mall shops. Stop by the salon to choose a new hair color or change your style entirely. At the Beauty Zone will you will find eye and lip colors in varieties even Revlon has yet to imagine. The majority of the shops will of course feature items for your avatar. Here you will be able to acquire anything from head to foot, long flowing dresses or something chic from the roaring 20’s. Each shop has a theme and enough choices to satisfy even the most finicky shoppers.
While browsing the shops you may notice one labeled Fashion Designer Boutique. This feature is truly unique to Mall World. Every one of the items in this shop is designed by other players. New items are added every day, so the inventory never gets stale. The best part is, Fashion Designer is another game published by 50 Cubes. If after playing Mall World you are inspired to create outfits of your own, all you need to do is click any of the links in the game and you’ll be designing in no time or you can head directly to Fashion Designer and begin playing right away.
Buying all the latest styles wouldn’t be much fun if you couldn’t show them off. By entering the fashion show, you will be able to dress to impress and walk down the runway to be voted on by your peers. The outfits with the most votes will be crowned the winner; however you don’t need to come out on top to win. By visiting the fashion show you can cast your own vote for the best outfits. Each vote you cast will go into a Super Credit Lotto with premium currency as the prize. A new winner is chosen every day.
Mall World even has a few mini games to break up the shopping. In the Dressing Room Mini Game, a customer will walk in with one accessory. Your job will be to choose the best outfit in 30 seconds to go along with it. The better your choice the more money and experience you will earn. The Missing Piece Mini Game is the exact opposite. You will be presented with an outfit from the catalog, and you must prove your knowledge by picking the item that goes with it. Don’t forget to come back every day to spin the Wheel of Fashion to win prizes. There is even a Greeting Card Creator to send salutations to your friends.
As any good shopper would, by now you are probably asking, how much is all of this going to cost? On top of all of the free-to-play features Mall World offers, it is also ingeniously monetized. Most of the items can be acquired by reaching certain levels and by spending mall dollars, earned when you sell items in your store. Many premium items are paid for by sponsors, agree to watch a 30 second ad and the premium item will be added directly to your closet. If you really love the game, you can of course show your appreciation by purchasing some premium currency to either unlock things faster or buy a few premium items.
Perhaps the best reason to play Mall World, appropriately saved for last is the attention to detail used in the clothing and accessories. Every item is distinct and drawn in extreme detail. The only thing missing is the paperwork required when running a business and with April around the corner, we are very thankful for the reprieve.
