Now that the basic features of AppSauna are tested and working (I hope) it’s time to start working on my wish list of things that had to be cut. At the top of this list is the Friend Finder.

Many times when playing games on Facebook I find it either beneficial or convenient to have neighbors. Sometimes I even play games where having neighbors is a requirement for advancement. While I can usually convince a few of my friends to join me, often I cannot find as many friends to play with as I would like. Even worse some of my friends will quickly leave for other games leaving me with inactive playing partners.

While some games on Facebook have Forums that you can visit to try to find friends, I have yet to see a good solution that is convenient. This is why we are designing the Friend Finder.

The basic design calls for a friend finder button to be placed on every game page. When you click this button you will be asked to enter a short description of what you are looking for (if you so desire). Example “Hi, I have a level 99 account and send gifts at 8am every day”

Once you submit your text you will be presented with 5 random people and their entries as well as a button that will allow you to send a friend request to these people. You can do this once a day on any one game and return the next day and see 5 more people. This will ensure that the tool won’t be abused by someone looking to bulk up their friend list. We will also make sure that a person is only displayed 5 times before they are removed from the rotation so that you won’t keep getting friend requests a week later but you can always return and enter again.
